So Ryan from my cert class just got his certification yanked and now half the group is acting like I personally walked into his house and burned his future down.
I’m 26m and I finished this six month certification program for a niche job where being incompetent can seriously screw people over financially.
There were around 40 of us, and Ryan was the guy who always had to be the smartest person in the room.
Every lunch, every break, every group thing, he was talking about how everyone else was stupid, but in class he honestly looked lost half the time.
Then near the end he passed the hardest exams with almost perfect scores.

I noticed, but I told myself maybe he just studied better alone or whatever.
Not my business.
After the final exam a bunch of us went out for drinks and Ryan got loud drunk.
He started bragging about how easy the course was and then said he used a hidden earpiece during the online exams while his friend fed him answers.
At first people laughed because it sounded like a joke, but then he started explaining how he angled the camera, where he hid the earpiece, all of it. I just kind of froze there with my beer getting warm. The next morning I kept trying to talk myself out of caring, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this idiot walking into an actual job with a cert he basically scammed. So I emailed the certification board and told them what he said. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, because they investigated, reviewed recordings, and found enough to revoke his certification. Now Ryan is calling me a snitch and posting vague crap online about snakes and people not wanting him to win.
He says I ruined six months of work over drunk jokes. Some classmates agree with him and say the exams were over, the board should have caught him, and it would have sorted itself out. How? Magic? What gets me is nobody seems mad that he cheated. They’re mad someone said something.
IMO if you admit to cheating your way into a field where people trust your certification, you don’t get to cry when the consequences show up.
